SiCA for Data Center Monitoring
Flexible and secure wireless monitoring for data centers
Introduction SiCA for Data Center Monitoring is a complete solution for monitoring data center energy usage and environmental parameters to increase overall energy efficiency and generate detailed performance metrics which can be compared across a corporate network of data centers.
This allows facility managers to make informed energy efficiency decisions, bill customers based on energy consumption and identify areas of waste which can dramatically reduce a data center's carbon footprint and increase profitability.
Electricity Sub-Metering Using EpiSensor's accurate and secure wireless nodes, sensors can be deployed throughout multiple data centers to provide detailed sub-metering and environmental data.
This data can be used to balance loads across PDU's (power distribution units), implement power factor correction, balance phase loads and assist in data center layout and virtualisation plans.
Environmental Monitoring Wireless temperature and humidity sensors can provide valuable data to identify thermal hotspots in the data center and prevent server and PDU overheating.
Sensors can be deployed with a high degree of granularity to produce temperature and humidity gradients for optimising server placement, recording anomalies and performing stress testing.
Easily Extend the System EpiSensor's SiCA Data Center monitoring system is based on a reliable, secure and extremely low power Zigbee wireless technology. Wireless nodes connect in a self-healing, intelligent mesh network which is designed to overcome the most difficult data center layouts.
The system is scalable to thousands of wireless nodes and a basic system easily can be expanded to include server & rack level electricity monitoring, HVAC metering, UPS electricity monitoring and detailed temperature analysis.
Remote access and alarms Data collected from electricity meters and environmental sensors across multiple sites can be accessed from anywhere in the world via the web and EpiSensor's SiCA Studio desktop software.
The system allows alerts to be sent to facility managers when safe load or temperature levels are exceeded. This data can then be compared across large corporate infrastructures to determine how best to improve data center reliability and efficiency. Management Software SiCA Studio software is used to connect to SiCA Server and access data collected from wireless nodes. It can also be used to define alarm levels, schedule events, issue manual commands and create reports for facility managers and data center engineers.
Sensor data can also be exported to Excel for more detailed analysis or transferred to accounting systems for billing purposes. SiCA Server Software is designed to work with a range of robust industry standard databases and web servers to seamlessly integrate with existing IT systems.
