Introduction

SiCA for Building Management is a flexible, secure, wireless building monitoring and control system based on EpiSensor's SiCA Platform. With global energy prices rising and increasing awareness of carbon footprints and climate change, it is essential to understand exactly where energy is being used in a building.

This system can be used to track electricity, water and natural gas usage in commercial buildings via the web. The system can also remotely control loads and monitor environmental parameters such as ambient temperature and humidity using easy to install wireless nodes. The data produced by these nodes can be used to improve building energy efficiency by identifying areas of wasteful energy usage.

Sub-Meter Individual Circuits

Data can be easily and securely gathered from wireless nodes at both building level and appliance level to provide detailed drill-down energy consumption and environmental data.

This allows facility managers and sustainability teams to implement company-wide efficiency policies and generate efficiency metrics to compare building performance. EpiSensor's accurate sub-meters can also be used to monitor energy usage for retail, events, conferences and rented office space.

Control, Schedule & Alarm

Using EpiSensor's SiCA Studio software, wireless nodes can be remotely controlled and monitored from anywhere in the world via the web. Individual circuits can be switched based on scheduled events, alarm levels or manual control commands.

These features can be used to dramatically increase energy efficiency in buildings by intelligently switching lighting & HVAC (heating, ventilation & air-conditioning) systems based on building occupancy.

Easily Extend the System

EpiSensor's SiCA for Building Management system is based on a reliable, secure and extremely low power Zigbee wireless technology. Wireless nodes connect in a self-healing, intelligent mesh network which is designed to overcome the most difficult building layouts.

The system is scalable to thousands of wireless nodes and a basic system easily can be expanded to include appliance level electricity, water & gas sub-metering.

Management Software

When nodes are installed in a building, they securely join a wireless network which is managed by a SiCA Gateway. This gateway collects data from the wireless nodes and delivers it to a central SiCA Server via the web. SiCA Server can store data from multiple SiCA Gateways in an industry standard database where it is made available for SiCA Studio desktop software.

SiCA Studio can generate detailed reports for facility managers, view live data, control wireless nodes, define schedules and export data to Excel.
