Dublin, Ireland, November 13th 2011 - funding of €850,000 has been provided to EpiSensor, a Limerick based company that develops wireless sensor technology that reduces energy costs. The syndicated funding has been provided by the Bank of Ireland Start-up and Emerging Sectors Equity Fund, managed by Delta Partners, the AIB Seed Capital Fund, co-managed by Enterprise Equity, Enterprise Ireland and private investors. The funds will enable EpiSensor to create new jobs and grow international sales.
EpiSensor has seen rapid growth since it was founded in 2007. Its wireless technology platform (SiCA) reduces energy usage and costs by providing data from wireless energy sensors that show where energy savings can be made. It has helped organisations in the pharmaceutical, medical devices, food processing and manufacturing industries to significantly reduce energy costs and the technology has proven to pay for itself within the first year. The system is designed and manufactured in Ireland.

We have just launched a wireless IR proximity sensor which is an integrated battery powered SiCA Platform product. It can be used in any situation where the proximity of a one object to another is important. It sends a data point through the SiCA architecture when it detects that an object has moved away from a face of the product (as per the diagram below).

An example of an application for this product would be to detect open/close events on the door of a chilled warehouse. This is important information to have when working to reduce energy consumption of chillers - the longer a warehouse door is open, the harder chillers will have to work to maintain the ambient temperature. Data produced by this product could be correlated with chiller energy consumption and HR information to assign responsibility for energy usage to fork lift operators in a warehouse environment. You can find more information on this product here. |

Austin, Texas — September 13, 2010 – Control4, a leader in affordable IP-based home control systems, today announced the extension of its EMS 100 Energy Management System through interoperability with load control device and energy monitor manufacturers Entek International LLC, EpiSensor, Jetlun, Eaton, and TED - The Energy Detective. By broadening the ecosystem of interoperable devices within the home area network, Control4, maker of the EMS 100, can help electric utilities offer consumers more ways to participate in demand response programs to save energy, particularly during peak periods. These strategic relationships also give consumers the ability to manage their energy use without smart meters.
Control4 has partnered with leading providers of electricity monitors and load controllers so that consumers can control multiple devices in the home. Leveraging the Control4® platform to automate home appliances and deliver usage information by device, consumers can choose how to respond to or override demand response and price signals from utilities. Control4 will demonstrate the interoperability of its platform with its energy management ecosystem partners at Autovation, September 12th-15th, 2010.
